I have taken my first CLEP test...and passed! I took the Information Systems and Computer Applications test which basically is a 3 credit Computer Science elective. This starts me on my road to a AS in Business degree which I am hoping to finish by June of 2009. At this point I want to take the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature test on Nov. 29 when we will be in Macomb again and the College Math test after that. That will give me 12 credits for this fall semester, which is basically a full-load without having studied more than 1-2hrs in any week.
I think that I will enroll at Excelsior around the end of summer '08 and that will give me until end of summer '09 to finish all the classes for the ASB. It would be nice to accelerate the process and complete a BS in Business Administration by that time, but I don't know if that is realistic to hope for. I have been working full-time this fall and if that continues, I will not be able to study as much as it would take to complete the BS in that time, I think.
I didn't use all the time I had available, only about 70 minutes. Next time I need to figure out how to skip the tutorial at the beginning so that I can get right into the test. It teaches you how to use a mouse (groan...) and how to click buttons...So next time it will only be the testing time.
If I can get lots of studying done while we are traveling over the next couple weeks, I may be able to take another of the general CLEPs, like Social Studies and History, or Humanities. I debate about when to take such a big test as humanities...If I take it to soon when I am not prepared I will have 6 months before I can take it again. On the other hand, if I wait until I think I am all prepared and still flunk it, it will be 6 months from then before I can retake it. The obvious solution is just to not fail :P but that is always a possibility.
Anyway, I am excited about taking these CLEP tests. God is truly blessing!
